A Day On The Mountain...Robert Redford Style

Spending the day at Sundance Mountain Resort is like taking a step back in time, instantly, you are met with the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the majestic Mt. Timpanonogos. The resort is dotted with log cabins that are filled with restaurants and shops, it really gives off an overall rustic feel.

We took some of our "kid-bassadors" to Sundance for a fun day of skiing. The lower mountain off of Ray’s Lift is perfect for the beginner skier, our favorite was the Navajo Cat Track to the Outlaw Trail, which true to its name featured western themed kid-sized structures including a jailhouse, which the kids quickly skied behind for photo-ops. Head further up the mountain for some cool blues that our littles had a blast cruising down. It felt like it was kid’s day at the mountain, which was great encouragement, because sometimes a run might look a little scary from the lift, but when you see a kid smaller master it, you tend to get a boost in your confidence.

After a morning of skiing their littles bellies were starting to sound like angry bears. We got in one more run and made our way to the Foundry Grill, which offers fresh healthy food with a down-home flare, open 7-days a week and offering, breakfast lunch and dinner. We ordered some wood fired pizzas and a few kid’s meals and everything was delicious and gone in record time. We highly recommend trying the truffle mac and cheese. (…are you hungry yet) Sundance also offers a few other dining options, a quick deli with coffee and hot chocolate. If you're looking for a great date night options the Owl Bar and Tree Room Restaurant are not to be missed and reservations are recommended.

Sundance Mountain Resort isn't just for skiers, they also offer an Alpine Winter Zip Tour for all the thrill seekers out there. Sundance's Nordic Center has 15-kilometers of groomed cross country trails and 10-kilometers of snowshoe trails that wind through beautiful forests with beautiful views of Mt. Timpanogos and Stewart Falls. Rentals and demo products available.

So what are you waiting for....grab the kids and head to Sundance for a day you won't forget.
